Hearts Goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye Slams Kotoko

The former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper says the club’s struggles in continental competitions are linked to poor management.

Former goalkeeper of Asante Kotoko, Soulama Abdoulaye, has attributed the club’s recent troubles in continental competitions to mismanagement.

The Burkinabe, who was blamed for Kotoko’s shameful exit from the Caf Champions league preliminary stage at the hands of Barrack Young Controllers of Liberia last year, claims that his former employers need to fix the team’s deep-rooted problems before they can achieve any meaningful progress in continental competitions.

“Kotoko’s problems are deep rooted and they have to try and fix them,” Soulama told Citi FM.

“If you look at my new club, Hearts, our performance is unexpected, but for Kotoko the managerial problems are really hurting them.”

For a third consecutive season, the Kumasi-based club failed to make an impact on the continent. They were knocked out in the preliminary round of the Caf Champions league by Algerian representatives MC El Eulma.

Soulama helped Accra Hearts of Oak record an impressive 2-1 away win over Mali’s Djoliba AC in the Caf Confederation Cup round of eight first leg on Friday.

The Phobians will inch closer to the money zone of the competition if they avoid a defeat in the return leg against Djoliba on May 3.
