I Feel It's "Morally Wrong" To Date Someone 20yrs Older Than You - KKD's Daughter

Ohemaa Kyei Darkwa, daughter of renowned broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), has posited that she would not date someone who is over 20 years older than her because she considers it as "morally wrong".

She however pointed out that, in the alleged rape incident involving her father, eventhough it was not "about moral issues here" she was "bothered" because it was "an issue of whether it was a case of criminality or not".

To me it’s not the age that mattered so much, but the accusations that bothered me. Because at the end of the day, someone my age, fair enough she is young. I wouldn’t involve myself with someone who is over 20 years older than me. I feel that it’s morally wrong but you know, we are not talking about moral issues here,” the teenager said.

Ohemaa Darkwa, who stated that she had always believed her father did not rape Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson, was speaking to Starr FM shortly after the state dropped the rape case against her father at a hearing at an Accra High Court on Wednesday.

KKD, who was committed to stand trail by the Kaneshie Magistrate Court on February 19, 2015, at the Fast Track High Court after he had been charged with raping a 19-year-old girl at the African Regency Hotel, was discharged by the court after the state filed a "nolle prosequi".

A Chief State Attorney, Mrs Yvonne Attakorah-Obuobisa, announced the state’s decision to discontinue with the case at the High Court’s sitting in Accra today.

A press release signed by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mrs Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong cited the unwillingness of the victim and her family members to testify as the main reason for discontinuing the case.

An "incredibly excited" Ohemaa Darkwa said: “it is just very good to know that my dad has been granted the justice he deserves, this case has been bogus from the start,” adding "we’re going to the African Rageant hotel to celebrate".
