Family Demand Probe Over Girls Murder

The family of Ruth Ankomah, the 7-year old girl who was allegedly defiled and killed at Atadeka a new settlement in the Kpone-Katamanso District of Accra are demanding probe into fresh information they claimed has reached them.

The family alleged that they believed the suspect Lucas Agbadzi, a 20 year old Togolese national who lives in Ghana might have killed their intelligent primary one pupil of the Marshack Academy who wanted to become a nurse in the future for ritual purposes.

“Because our information indicated that the suspect had confessed that he was promised a three bedroom house, a car and money to kill three children.”

According to them, the deceased’s death was shrouded in secrecy hence the exact cause should be established. They have therefore appealed to the Minister of Justice to intervene to ensure that justice is administered in the matter so as to end the mysterious killings that had been prevalent in Atadeka and its surrounding communities in the Sraha electoral area.

Doris Mina Mensah, auntie of the deceased who last Tuesday spoke with DAILY GUIDE at the family residence near the scene of the incident at Atadeka revealed that prior to the day of the incident, Saturday April 19, 2015, at about 9:30 pm the suspect came to the house under the pretext of buying cooked beans.

“We are sure that he was there to monitor Ruth who was then fast asleep. We were angry and asked him to leave since we do not sell beans in the night but he later opted to buy sachet water.” She said.

On the fateful day, the deceased who was sent to buy bread for breakfast was accosted and lured by the suspect into his container which he used as a place of abode, according to the auntie.

She said “Ruth was seen around the container fanning a fire in a coal pot for the suspect. Later unusual noise was heard in the container and the person who spotted Ruth there rushed to inform the father. Ruth’s father later went there and saw his daughter dead in the container. The suspect was however, nowhere to be found.” Mina Mensah revealed.

She strongly believed that suspect Agbadzi did not act alone and therefore entreated the police to intensely investigation into the matter to bring all perpetrators of the unlawful act to book.

She revealed that Ruth’s siblings could not eat when news of her death broke in the area for the first time.

Ruth was found unresponsive in the sleeping place of the suspect last Sunday night and some residents quickly arrested him(the suspect) and handed him over to the Ashaiman Divisional Police for investigations.

The police who visited the scene broke the container and found the deceased person naked with her vagina swollen and blood oozing from his mouth. Her dress was lying close to her.

The suspect had admitted during interrogations that he murdered the 7-year-old girl. Police investigations continue.
