A newly married couple are among dozens of British climbers and travellers who were caught up in the the devastating earthquake in Nepal that triggered a massive avalanche on Mount Everest yesterday.

Alex Chappatte and her new husband Sam wrote of their terror as avalanches broke around them and they were forced to take shelter at their camp half-way up the world's tallest mountain.
