Julius Debrah Must Explain GHȼ1000 Soli

Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) has joined calls on the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah to explain the motive for doling out GHȼ1000 to senior journalists and editors at the Flag Staff House.

According to the Executive Secretary, Linda Ofori-Kwafo the gesture at the time the country economy is in shambles is “very unnecessary”.

In her view, the money could have been used to build more school to eliminate schools under trees and pay fees of needy students across the country.

The Chief of Staff has come under a barrage of attacks after the 'soli' news broke following a meeting with journalists at the Flagstaff House.

Pressure group, Occupy Ghana in a statement is asking the president to take a serious view of the action by the Chief of Staff and penalize him accordingly, whiles the Editor of the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, Egbert Faibille Jnr has also condemned the Chief of Staff for doling out cash to editors and senior journalists.

In support, Linda Ofori-Kwafo said the Chief of Staff must come out to explain his real intention to put matters to rest.

She commended the senior journalists who refused the money but went there to do their work as professionals.
