Lion Hot Over Girls Death

Some residents in the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, have descended heavily on the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, alleging that he is in bed with the purported influential persons accused of being behind the death of Ruth Ankomah, the seven-year-old girl who was murdered in a container at Atadeka.

The constituents are asking Nii Afotey-Agbo aka Lion, who doubles as the Greater Accra Regional Minister, to stop interfering in investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, who are currently handling the case in which a certain Lucas Agbadzi has so far been apprehended in connection with the death.

Angry residents further called on President John Dramani Mahama to call his appointee, who doubles as the Chairman of the Regional Security Council, to order.

The over thousand residents raised the concerns when they embarked on a demonstration over the series of deaths that had occurred in the Kpone-Katamanso constituency in recent times.

Residents carried placards, some of which read, “Allow the police alone to carry out their duties Greater Accra Regional Minister,” Thank you God for revealing the evil doers among us,” “Mr. President please call Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo to order.”

Kingsford Aminu Iddrisu, spokesperson for the concerned youth of the area, lamented the rampant robberies in the area and appealed to the authorities to come to their aid.
