The Ghana Evangelical Society has called for the establishment of a national week of confession and repentance for politicians and citizens to resign from their corrupt practices, evil and wicked ways.
The national week of confession and repentance, according to the group, was a decree made by God Himself and revealed to them for the nation Ghana to observe between April and May.
The society is of the view that God reigns and rules in the affairs of men, adding “except the Lord builds and watches over Ghana, the builders and watchmen of the country will work in vain for permanent peace, progress, prosperity and good of the land.”
The leader of the society, Rev. Prof. Enoch Immanuel Amanor Agbozo, addressing a press conference recently in Accra, believed that Ghana’s woes should be blamed on individuals selfish pursuant for power, position, pleasure and money.
“The Lord has asked His servant, Rev. Prof. Enoch Immanuel Amanor Agbozo, to announce and make known His first decree on godly government and the restoration of progress and glory to the country,” he said.
He said Ghana has come to a standstill in her development, due to the high level of corruption being exhibited by the government machinery.
“The nation is afflicted by a serious spiritual and cultural malady, namely, the love and worship of money in the land. This is the core factor and prime cause of the stagnation of progress of the nation,” he noted.
Rev. Prof. Agbozo also blamed churches for not doing much to save the situation for which politicians to continue with the act of looting the nation.
“Considering the clear devastating impact and effect of corruption, evil ways and wickedness in the pursuit of power, position, prosperity, possession and fame in church, politics and business and everywhere in the nation, we pray that the media in Ghana will do its utmost to spread, make known, and support the divine decree for the observance of the national week of confession of and repentance from corruption, evil ways and wickedness in the land,” the leader pleaded.
He called on the government and churches to give full weight to the national week of confession and repentance for the good of the nation and people. “We pray that Ghana will rise up in holy response in fervent prayer, honest confession and repentance unto righteousness on the part of all.”
