The Central Regional Chairman for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Bernard Allortey Jacobs has rubbished opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) claim that the current energy crisis popularly called “dumsor” in the country will make electorates vote against the ruling government.

According to him, the erratic power supply started during the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s regime and again during the NPP’s regime the country witnessed same power situation but they couldn’t fix it, assuring that NDC under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama will not manage the power crisis but will fix it.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs who made the above views during the Central Region NDC branch committees believed his party will shock its opponents in the forth-coming 2016 elections by winning massively across the country.

The inauguration of eight branch committees in Cape Coast is aimed at bringing experienced politicians within the party in the region on board ahead of the next year’s general elections.

The committees included the political committee headed by the former Central Regional Minister, Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Addo, research committee chaired by the head of Geography Department of the university of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr. Kofi Nyarko and Dr. Spio Garbrah who heads the communication committee.

Others are constitutional and legal committee chaired by a legal practitioner, Mr. Gustav Addington, finance committee chaired by Mr. Ernest Nana Kwasi, a businessman and youth working wing committee chaired by a senior lecturer at UCC, Dr. Awuah Nyamekye.

The rest are women’s working wing committee headed by Mrs. Faustina Nelson and organization committee presided over by Samuel Graham.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs promised that his team together with the new committee members will work hard to ensure that the NDC win the 2016 elections.

He said that the NDC, which recently has 16 out of the 23 parliamentary seats in the Central Region, is ready to capture all the 23 constituencies in the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

He noted that his party is winning the Central Region due to numerous developmental projects President Mahama has initiated in the region.

“There is never in history of the region after independence that any government has invested over $320 million on infrastructure projects in the Central Region,” he added.
