I Left Over $ 4 Million In Sports Ministry Coffers Afriyie Ankrah

Former Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has challenged persons accusing him of engaging in corrupt acts at the ministry to come out with evidence.

Afriyie-Ankrah commenting on the world cup fiasco on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Thursday claimed he never spent all of the budgetary allocation given him for the tournament.

The 2012 campaign manager of President John Mahama led the Black Stars to the soccer mundial in Brazil 2014 where the team woefully under-performed.

Issues that emerged out of the trip to the South American country led to the establishment of the Dzamefe commission to investigate it.

The three member commission subsequently invited several persons to give evidences at the commission and the former minister was one of such witnesses.

However, Afriyie-Ankrah claims that corruption allegations leveled against him are false as he judiciously made use of monies given the ministry under his tenure.

Out of about $ 9 million given him, he said he never spent all of the amount and instead left more than four million dollars in the coffers of the ministry.

“I left more 4.444 million dollars and some coins in the ministry of youth and sports coffers and I challenge anyone who has evidence to the contrary to come out and challenge me…,” he said.
