Three Sisters Convicted On Environmental Offences

The Suhum Magistrates’ Court, Presided over by Ms Naomi Akyeanu has sentenced three sisters to a fine of GHC120.00 and in default serve one week in prison custody each.

     The three sisters, Akosua Abroso, Abroso Awayo and Abroso Bebe were charged with indiscriminate disposal of human excreta, insanitary bathhouse drains and keeping over grown weeds around a residential premise.

     They all pleaded guilty to the charges.

     Prosecuting, Senior Environmental Health Officer Stephen Kwadwo Asante said, the three accused persons live in the same house.

     He said Environmental Officers on duty went to the house of the accused persons and came across some environmental nuisance in the house and drew their attention to it.

     Mr Asante said the accused person became annoyed and hurled abuses at the Officers.

     He said the accused persons were therefore issued with summons to appear before the court.
