Over GHC5, 000.00 Made From Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival

The recreational and adventurous sport or activity of flying or paragliding took place as part of the Easter festival at KWAHU-Atibie in the Eastern Region which attracted a lot of people both Ghanaians and foreigners to glide at the cost of GHc250 per individual.

According to the Public Relations Officer of Head of Ghana Tourism, Ben Ohene Ayeh, the Ghana Paragliding Festival has become an essential part of the annual Easter celebrations in Ghana which do not focus on just the development of Ghana Tourism but also job creation in the country especially the Kwahu community.

“This year marks the tenth edition of the paragliding festival in Ghana and it was massive. We had 212 people who registered 116 women and 96 men got the opportunity to fly at the cost of GHC 250 and there were more than 300 people who were willingly to also register at a point. This tells you our people are embracing the activity,” he said.

He also mentioned that the adventure sets to boost Ghana’s tourism sector, create opportunity for arts and craft vendors to sell their goods which also help improve standards of living in the community by paving way for local businesses such as food vendors, taxi driver’s hotel owners and many others to earn more income.

To ensure safety, fifteen experienced pilots from six countries such as united States of America, France, Belgium, japan, Peru and Switzerland came to assist gliders to enjoy their ride along and get inside scoop one everything that happened.

Ohene added that, the paragliding festival which has become an established event on the national tourism calendar will continue to draw people from all part of the nation to the Kwahu community, as well as generate revenue for the country.
