Government Asked To Provide More Libraries

Mr Charles Lamptey, a member of the Osu Traditional Council, has called on civil society organisations to support government to provide more libraries.

He said this would help the people to have access to factual information and learn of the past.

Mr Lamptey, who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Osu and said democracy thrives on information of facts with references to be made, hence the establishment of more libraries to get the  society well informed.

He said the national excuse of no money should not be entertained in creating the libraries, since the provision of books to enhance reading by the public and students, is viable, adding: “We cannot have a nation with people with less knowledge.”

He said although the internet is in existence yet not everybody is conversant with its usage, especially “we the older ones who were born before the computer”.
