Yvonne Nelson And Lydia Forson Shouldnt Allow Themselves To Be Used By Politicians - Yamoah Ponko

The Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu-Juaben in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Afrifa Yamoah Ponko has blamed the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be behind the insults rendered on President John Mahama by Ghanaian actresses Yvonne Nelson and Lydia Forson.

For the past few days, several celebrities, including Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie, Lydia Forson, Wanlov the Kubolor and Chris Attoh, have called on Government to find an urgent solution to the frustrating power crisis.

Yvonne Nelson took to twitter and in a series of tweets wrote:

“It’s so sad; this dumsor crap is here to stay! They will just not tell the people the truth! They’ll wait and let us get used to it!”

“The minute people in government start investing in generators will be the end of Ghana. They will make sure the Dumsor continues forever and ever.”

“I can never get used to it! How does our economy grow? Businesses are closing! Kids in school are failing! What a shame.”

“The president doesn’t even see our tweets to him because the page is obviously not run by him! What’s the use? If you don’t handle your account?”

“Ghanaians wake up! We seriously don’t deserve this! #dumsormuststop”

“How will our country be productive? We can’t function! It’s sooo wrong!”

On another platform, outspoken award winning Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson has lashed out at President John Mahama for his failure to solve the numerous challenges facing the nation especially, the power crisis.

According to Ms Forson, despite the many chances Ghanaians have given to the President to make do his promises, the problems remain unsolved.

In a letter written to the President and posted on her Facebook page, Lydia Forson indicated that the general public should be aware that “the president really doesn’t care about us; we the little people we the ones who are not significant enough to be bothered about.”

She is the latest Ghanaian celebrity to speak up against government’s inability to permanently fix the energy crisis known as ‘dumsor’.

But commenting on the dumsor issue raised by the celebrities, the Ejisu-Juaben MCE said the activities of the actresses are fueled by the ‘unscrupulous’ NPP who has no campaign message for the upcoming 2016 elections.

He reminded Ghanaians that the secret thing about President Mahama is that God has blessed him as whatever people say about him will not work.

“Look at the way some of our actresses are being used by some politicians against the President and his government. When the dumsor started in NPP era, where were those actresses? I will appeal to them [Lydia Forson and Yvonne Nelson] not to allow their popularity to be used by these unscrupulous politicians……Ghanaians should exercise patience and support the President with prayers to mould the country for us”, he stated.

To him, President Mahama will resolve the dumsor with long term measures without resorting ‘toy machines’ to solve the energy crisis which all successive governments went through until it has escalated to this level.
