NPP Communicator: We Dont Have Energy Crisis; We Rather Have Management Crisis

A member of the communication team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Sarpong has attributed the problems associated with the irregular power supply as managerial rather than that of an energy crisis.

According to the businessman, the excuses and promises of the Mahama-led administration to resolve the energy crisis are out of place since out of the 400 megawatts which are needed solve the country’s energy crisis 300 megawatts can be generated in Ghana without relying on any help from outside.

Speaking in support of the celebrities who are planning to organize a vigil on "dumsor" in the country, Kwabena Sarpong on Oman Fm’s National Agenda Morning Show said Ghanaians cannot wait till December for government to resolve the energy crisis considering the fact that Volta River Authority (VRA) only need money to solve the crisis.

He maintained that the 10 years contract the NDC government claimed to have signed to end the dumsor [erratic power supply] is a lie; adding that the 10 generators which President Mahama has rented out to Sierra-Leone for $250, 000 a month could have been used to generate 120 megawatts needed for the three Northern regions and Brong Ahafo.

Looking at the lower level of the Akosombo Dam which is appropriate for power generation coupled with 120 megawatts going waste in Ghana, Mr. Kwabena Sarpong quizzed “why must people wait up till December?”

So why must we wait till December for Mahama to solve the energy crisis; he chose December because he thinks we have short memory and he can easily convince Ghanaians to vote for him again in 2016 after he has solve the energy crisis….and so why should the celebrities wait till December when we can get power immediately in Ghana".

He revealed that the NDC government’s inability to pay contractors has made it impossible for the Kpong Thermal Plant operate; reiterating that “we don’t have energy crisis but rather we have management crisis”.
