NPP Dumsor Demo Is For Fundraising - Solomon Nkansah

National Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Solomon Nkansah has described as ‘fundraising’, a series of demonstrations organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against the erratic power supply.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show on Wednesday May 6, 2015 Solomon Nkansah maintained that demonstrations championed by the opposition party are not necessarily to express their displeasure but to sell party paraphernalia to its members in order to raise funds to support the party.

Mr Nkansah was reacting to the planned vigil by some celebrities in Ghana against the ongoing energy crisis popularly known as dumsor.

Celebrities in the country are set to hit the streets of Accra on May 16, 2015 to register their concern about the intense load shedding that has crippled the country and especially businesses.

Solomon Nkansah appealed to the celebrities, led by Yvonne Nelson and Sarkodie, to rescind their decision to stage a vigil against the dumsor since the effect will benefit the NPP and “even people will think that they are working for them (NPP)”.

“The opposition in the country is always making noise with this dumsor issue. They even sell shirts from GHC 20 to GHC 10 for its members just to raise funds for the party” he said.

"Even their recent Wongbo and the Kumasi Yabre demo are examples of fundraising demo for the party."

President Mahama is working round the clock to solve the dumsor problem, Solomon Nkansah pledged.
