Two Arrested For Allegedly Killing Expats

Two persons have been arrested by the Akosombo Police for their alleged involvement in the murder of the two African-American women on the outskirts of Akwamufie in the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern Region.

The identities of the two men have not been disclosed by the police because of security reasons.

A source at the Akosombo Police told the Daily Graphic yesterday that the two would be sent to Accra for further interrogation.

The two African-American women, identified as Mane Lena, 75, and Diop Nzanga, 69, were allegedly murdered by unknown assailants on the outskirts of Akwamufie.

Both retirees had lived in the country for nearly two decades and dealt in batik tie dye. 

They were said to have lived in a small settlement near Akwamufie for more than 18 years.

The bodies of the two were discovered in a shallow grave near the town last Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the United States Embassy has expressed its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victims. 

A statement issued by the embassy in Accra said it was in contact with family members and was providing appropriate consular assistance. 

“Due to privacy considerations, we have no further comment at this time.

“We have confidence in the rule of law in Ghana, and urge any residents with information regarding this incident to report it to the Ghana Police Service.,” the statement added.
