Pratt: King of Kings Is Meaningless

The managing editor of the Insight newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt, who is also a leading member of the Committee for Joint Action (CJA), has rebuked the Libyan leader, Colonel Muammar Gaddaffi for his quest to become "the king of kings of Africa", dismissing it as meaningless. Speaking on the kokrokoo morning show, Mr. Pratt denounced the Libyan leader, saying he overthrew a Libyan monarchy but now wants an African monarchy. This man cannot be king of kings, neither will we allow him to rule over us. He added that Gaddaffi is seeking to buy his way around Ghanaians and some African kings to assume continental kingship. According to Mr. Pratt, the Libyan leader wanted to come and launch the centenary celebrations of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in Ghana, but knowing that he will not be given that chance he (Gaddaffi) has decided to cancel the visit. He also disclosed that a Ghanaian born professor by name Nabilla, a former security advisor in the former Dr. Hilla Limann government read a speech in one of the African countries pronouncing the Libyan leader as king of kings and that, he described as a pity. Its a pity because we are not so poor as to let this man use his money to overcome or rule over us, no way, he cant be declared king of kings. A meeting of a high profile assembly of chieftains of West Africa scheduled for Ghana was expected to meet the Libyan leader yesterday but the event was mysteriously cancelled, without any formal reason being assigned. Speaking to Peace FM, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Ransford Tetteh said the cancellation was due to a technical hitch. But Mr. Pratt said Gaddaffi was expecting the West African chieftains to endorse him as the King of Kings of Africa but knowing that Ghana was not particularly supportive of his (Gaddaffis) mission, he called off the trip.
