Gov�t Will Continue To Empower Women � Oye Lithur

The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur has congratulated all mothers in Ghana, especially those who are singlehandedly taking care of their children.

The Minister said: “We are saying congratulation to women in the formal and the informal sector the labour of mothers and women in Ghana.”

She commended women for their hard work especially “all women in the rural areas who work in the sun and in the rain, just to make sure their able to put a meal on the table for their children and also the whole household.”

In a message released on Mothers’ Day, Nana Oye Lithur also congratulated other men who have taken up the motherly roles in their various homes and cautioned runaway and irresponsible fathers.

She assured women her Ministry and the John Mahama-led government will continue to pass bill that will improve their living conditions.

“We will as government continue to push the interest of women and the interest of mothers. We are coming up with the affirmative action bill to support and also protect widows. We are also reviewing the interstate succession bill that is currently in parliament,” she promised.

Mrs Lithur assured women of government’s commitment to continue empowering them as well as the security of women. She mentioned that her Ministry is targeting women in extreme poor communities to empower them.
