AUDIO: #Dumsormuststop# Vigil Gets The Green Light - La Traditional Council Gives Go Ahead

“I find it hard to accept that Ga Mashie is banning noise making on La land because La is different from Ga Mashie. The ban on noise making only affects Ga Mashie excluding our lands and so currently people on La and its environs can play music and other things…” said Nii Yemo Obroni VII, La Kpa Wolumo (Chief Priest).

The Chief priest was speaking to a recent petition filed by the chiefs of Ga Mashie to the Ghana Police Service, requesting that the #dumsormuststop# vigil should be halted.

According to the Ga chiefs, the vigil will interrupt with the ban on noise-making; hence the impending protest against the ever worsening power crisis should be postponed.

But speaking in an interview on PEACE FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', the La Chief priest said the venue of the vigil does not fall under Ga Mashie (Ga traditional area).

“…the ban on noisemaking will start in July on La (La traditional area) lands and so I am surprised of the claims they are making. They should have even drawn our attention to it,” he said.

He has expressed his willingness to join the vigil since according to him it is for a good cause.

“The organizers of the vigil have invited me to pour libation for their vigil to be successful and I have gladly accepted to join them,” he added.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Ga and La Traditional area will be meeting with the Police today to find a resolution to the issue.
