The minister for Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, has said it is a complete waste of time for some celebrities to organize a ‘dumsor’ demonstration considering the fact that their contributions in the creative arts industry, has been minimal to the economic growth of Ghana.

But Barimah Sydney, a star musician has replied the minister on Peace FM's Evening News claiming that the stagnant growth of the creative art industry is as a result of the power crisis that keeps having a negative effect on the nation.

Dr. Donkor is on record to have said in an interview which was played on Peace FM that “I want to walk into New York, go to a museum and see Ghanaian arts being exhibited”.

But considering the unstable nature of our electrical power in Ghana, Barimah Sydney believes it is highly impossible for musicians and other stars to excel in what they do and gain global attention.

He wondered how our local celebrities can manage to compete with others from foreign nations if they are to depend on the unstable power we have.

“For 17 good years I have been in the music industry and it is under this ‘dumsor’ era that I have recorded my latest single using power from a generator. It has never happened to me before”, he said...if he wishes to see recorded Ghanaian materials in New York museums, then he has to ensure we have stable power to do things”, he said.
