NDC Prepares For Election 2016 Inaugurates 5 Working Cttees

As part of efforts to strengthen its internal structures ahead of the 2016 general elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated five committees to steer its affairs.

They are Economic, Election, Legal, Communication and Finance Committees.

The committees are expected to outline strategies and programmes to bring victory.

Inaugurating them at the party’s new office complex in Accra, the National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy, was optimistic that the 2016 elections would be a one-touch victory for the NDC and tasked members of the committees to work extra hard.

He said “the party cannot go to battle with the opposition without strengthening and re-organizing its structures,” and urged members of the committees to be committed to achieving the purpose for which they were inaugurated.

Mr. Portuphy said other committees which would work alongside the five would be inaugurated soon.

They are the Political, Complaint and Conflict Resolution, and Social Service committees.

He urged the party faithful to bring their expertise on board to strengthen the agenda of the party, as well as strengthen its grassroots.

‘We need committed and hard working party members to steer the affairs of these committees, so we are calling on members to come and support with their experience,” he said.

The General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, entreated members of the committees to attend meetings, and cautioned that any member who would fail to attend meetings would be suspended.

He urged the party’s communication team to ensure that whatever is said in public did not contradict that of the party, adding that they should promote the agenda of the party and not their personal interests.
