The OM club president has confirmed that the Black Star will quit the Phoceens this summer.

Olympique de Marseille have given the biggest indication yet that Andre Ayew will definitely be leaving the club this summer.

While it has generally been accepted that the Ghanaian superstar will no longer be at the Stade Velodrome beyond the expiry of his contract at the end of June, there has been an element of ambiguity. This was perpetuated at the weekend—after OM’s victory over AS Monaco—when Ayew, speaking to Canal+, confirmed that his future had not yet been decided.

However, speaking to the Independent, Marseille president Vincent Labrune has admitted that Marseille cannot keep hold of their influential star.

The club chief also indicated that the Premier League may be the Black Star’s most likely destination.

“We can't keep Ayew,” Labrune admitted, “he is a very important player for OM but we can't offer him the kind of money English clubs can offer. The French financial system is complicated and we can't offer him an equivalent salary to what he can earn in England.”

However, Labrune did acknowledge that it would be wrench for the Olympians to see one of their top stars and favourite sons leaving the club.

“And equally, we can't ask Ayew, who we love and is an icon of our team, to accept a lower salary,” he continued.

“That makes no sense so unfortunately he is going to quit the club and we hope he has the great career that he deserves in England or somewhere else.”

There has been no shortage of well-documented interest in Ayew’s services.

From the Premier League, Liverpool appear to lead the chance; the 25-year-old has admitted that he is a supporter of the club, and would welcome a move to Anfield.

He recently admitted that the 2015/16 Champions League isn’t a factor in his decision, opening the door to other EPL admirers such as Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Everton and Swansea City.

Arsenal have also been linked to the player.

Across Europe, the likes of AS Roma, Spartak Moscow, Bayer Leverkusen, both Milan clubs, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain have also been named as potential destinations for Ayew over the last few months.
