James Agyenim Boateng, a Presidential Staffer has waded into the tension mounting up in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming that NPP cannot be an alternative to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

An interview with Kwabena Agyepong, the General Secretary of the NPP on Okay FM disclosed that some people are planning ‘evil’ against him in the party. The GS’s comment has raised a lot of controversies in the party and to add salt to injury, Dr Arthur Kennedy, a one-time presidential aspiring candidate of the NPP, predicting defeat for the party should flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, continue to be preoccupied with removing some party executives he should rather be working with.

Speaking to the issues, James Agyenim Boateng said during a panel discussion on PEACE FM's "kokrokoo" that it is obvious ‘there are serious crises in the NPP.

“The centre cannot hold…you can see that the NPP is in very serious crisis and this is a party that considers itself an alternative to the ruling party…what are the alternatives they are offering…They seem to be tearing apart the reputation and integrity of their own General Secretary…but it doesn’t build well for the party. Clearly, the party does not hold”.
