A consultant at the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Eric Ametor-Quarmyne has claimed that President John Dramani Mahama would have solved the ‘energy crisis long ago if electricity was for sale at the Makola market’.

According to him, he does not believe that the President would have preferred that he is insulted for ‘nothing’ if indeed he could have done something hurriedly to solve the power crisis.

The NDC communicator further claimed on Asempa FM on Tuesday that he was sure the President would have solved the four-year-old crisis if he had the power to fill the Akosombo and Bui Dams with adequate water for electricity generation.

“If the President can fetch water into Akosombo and Bui Dam to solve the energy crisis, he would have done it…but that is impossible else he would have done that long ago…,” he said.

The former Ghana Palava Editor who was reacting to the upcoming #Dumsormuststop vigil opined that he was not sure the vigil would act as a catalyst to end the power crisis.

His view, he said, stems from the level of disrespect the organizers of the vigil including Yvonne Nelson and Lydia Forson have shown towards the President.

Actions and writings of these celebrities, he said, have amounted to insults which he said was contrary to the ethics of Ghanaian society.

He therefore called on the celebrities to emulate what he described as ‘good works’ by other celebrities like Samini who is distributing one million rechargeable lamps in Ghana.

“How can you refer to someone who has been to University, become an MP and now a President as a Primaey school kid, that is below the ethics of Ghanaian society…,” he said.
