Ghana Can Win U-20 World Cup - Tetteh

The Dreams FC front man claims Ghana can win the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Ghana Under-20 striker Benjamin Tetteh believes the team has what it takes to repeat the Black Satellites’ 2009 success at the upcoming U-20 Fifa World Cup set for end of May in New Zealand.

The 17-year-old forward played a key role for Ghana during a mini tournament where they defeated New Zealand, Qatar and Australia to win the trophy.

Tetteh, who has previously trained with German side Borrusia Monchengladbach and Spanish champions Atletico Madrid in 2014, is happy with Ghana U-20 team’s preparation so far and believes the current group can win the competition.

“I strongly believe we can win the ultimate in New Zealand. We have a strong team and we are also in good shape. The pre-tournament games we played went well and we are getting better,” Tetteh told Goal.

“We have what it takes to emulate the Satellites team who won the U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009. Remember it is the same coach (Sellas Tetteh) who is handling us.”

Besides personal objectives, the attacker believes the glory of the team comes first and it is paramount.

“As a striker, I want to achieve my aim of banging in the goals but if that does not happen I will still keep fighting for the team to win the cup because that is very essential,” he said.

Tetteh’s club in Ghana, Dreams FC, are still leading the national division one league zone three with just one game left to conclude the first round. He urges them to keep fighting hard while he is away in New Zealand.

“My club Dreams FC should continue the good work that they started and I am wishing them the best of luck and they should go for the three points against Amidaus in Tema because it is theirs. I am going to miss them all,” he said.

Fifa agent Sascha Empacher, who handles Abdul Rahman Baba and Mohammed Salah, believes Tetteh would be the next big star in Ghana football.
