NPP Must Learn From NDC's Innovative Ways- Alhaji Dori

A decision by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to inaugurate a Business Development Committee to create jobs for its members has been badly criticized by opposition members; who believe it is a complete violation of the country’s constitution.

The Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akomea has described the action as mind boggling but Alhaji Dori, a member of the NDC believes it is a decent move every political party must emulate.

On Wednesday 13th May, 2015, the NDC inaugurated a number of committees including a Business Development Committee to be chaired by Dr. Ekow Spio Gabrah, the minister of Trade and Industry.

The work of the committee is to set up jobs for its members and according to Ahaji Dori, instead of the NPP lambasting the move, they must rather learn from the NDC’s innovative ways.

NPP must learn to safeguard their supporters just as the NDC is doing and stop the lamentation”, he said.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, the NDC scribe who is a former TEIN president of the University of Ghana mentioned that aside the NDC’s mandate of forming a government, the onus is upon them to encourage, motivate and create job opportunities for their followers.

Bear in mind this is a political party internal arrangement and it will continue to be so even if we are to be in opposition”, he said.

He however made it clear that the internal mechanism by the NDC to create jobs for their members should not be confused with recruitments into public jobs. “Public jobs are open for public recruitments. We must not confuse the public by painting a picture that people would not be allowed to work in public institutions unless they hold party cards”, he warned.
