Nana Addo Doesnt Have Mandate To Remove Afoko And Agyapong From Office

Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Bafo has deflated the assertion raised by Dr. Arthur Kennedy in his article which suggests that the NPP 2016 Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo is seeking to remove the duly elected executives from their post.

The one-time NPP Presidential Hopeful, Dr. Arthur Kennedy wrote an article on his social media that the party will suffer defeat in 2016 if Nana Akufo-Addo continues to be preoccupied with removing some party executives he should rather be working with.

Dr. Arthur Kennedy again wrote in his article that all mandates are important; in that “if NPP wanted the flag-bearer to choose National Executives, we would have vote only for flag-bearer and then permitted him to select his executives. Unfortunately, that is not what the constitution says”.

But reacting to this on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Kwame Bafo wondered if the Medical Doctor still sees himself as a leading member of NPP, thus he should have known that the constitutional procedures in the party don’t allow Nana Akufo-Addo as flag-bearer to lord over every other executive.

“Nana Addo doesn’t have the mandate to remove Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko from their positions as General Secretary and National Chairman respectively even though he has been elected the leader of NPP,” he stated.

He stressed that the party works with procedures and this make it impossible for Nana Addo and even the National Executive Committee to say they cannot work with the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.

He again said the final decision to remove the General Secretary and the National Chairman from their post does not rely on Nana Addo; emphasizing that there is no such thought being hatched by Nana Addo to remove Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong.

“There are rules they have to go through and so Nana Akufo-Addo cannot suddenly say that he can’t work with them and there is no reason for him to hate them ,he wants to win power for the party and Ghana at large,” he asserted.

Turning to Kwabena Agyapong’s accusation, the Brong Ahafo Youth Organizer urged his boss, the General Secretary to report to the disciplinary committee to deal with those who are flouting the party’s rules and not resort to the media to address his grievances.
