Fuel Increment: Ghanaians Will Now Face Real Suffering Jacob Osei Yeboah

Election 2012 Independent Presidential Candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah also known as “JOY 2012” has said the recent increment in fuel price will be a major blow to the citizenry.

According to him, in the midst of the ongoing crippling energy crisis doubled with fuel increase, “Ghanaians will now face the real suffering”.

This will affect everyone. We are in a mess…when there is fuel increment, its affect everything. The barber and the poor farmer will suffer” he added

Jacob Osei Yeboah questioned the timing of the nine per cent fuel price hikes announced Sunday.

That should be considered” he said

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), last Saturday increased petroleum products by 9% with effect from Sunday, May 17, 2015.

Petrol will now be sold at GHc3.33 per litre while Diesel will be sold at GHc3.24 per litre. A kilogram of LPG is expected to be sold at GHc2.88, MGO Local will go up GHc2.96. Unified petroleum is expected to go up by 4% while Kerosene will be up by 9%. However, prices of premix fuel and RFO remain the same.

However, in an interview with Peacefmonline.com ‘JOY 2012’ as affectionately called in politics insisted that Ghana’s economy is in a mess, a situation the government is failing to tell Ghanaians.

Government should explain to us the real issue…what is going on? The 9% price hike is to offset further depreciation of the cedi against major currencies. This is the worse situation of the economy. Austerity measures will endue economy depression if some measures are not taken,” he said.
