Dr. Amoako Baah Is Highly Political Than Politicians... - Aide To Kwabena Agyapong

Aide to Kwabena Agyapong, the General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Opoku Davis has lashed out at the Head of Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr. Amoako Baah for accusing his boss of masterminding recent happenings in the opposition which is courting negative media reportage.

Dr. Amoako Baah on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show said NPP’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong is administratively immature to handle the party’s affairs without resulting into a conflict.

He again said Kwabena Agyapong started the internal bickering when he used his authority to sack the party’s communication director, Perry Okudzeto and the other appointees at the party’s headquarters; adding it was wrong to unilaterally appointment communication directors for the various regions.

Reacting to these issues on the same platform, Opoku Davis implored the Political Scientist to check for the happenings in the NPP from the leaders before passing comments to denigrate the General Secretary.

According to him, the General Secretary is the mouthpiece of the NPP who has the mandate to carry out the orders of the National Chairman on behalf of the party.

When the National Chairman issue orders to do something, the General Secretary will do it. If the Steering Committee is issuing a statement, it will come from the General Secretary; if the National Council takes a decision, it is the duty of the General to pen his signature on it,” he explained.

It is the role of the General Secretary to communicate to the general public every decision of the party and so I beg to differ on the submission of Dr. Amoako Baah that Kwabena Agyapong has been taken a unilateral decision for the party, it is not true. He is gradually turning himself into someone who is highly political than politicians,” he chided.

To him, Dr. Amoako Baah should not address the issues in the NPP with emotions, cautioning him to give genuine opinions in the happenings in the party rather than attacking Kwabena Agyapong of being the cause of the problems in the NPP.

I beg him to leave emotions out of what he is doing….instead of being dispassionate about it and state it as it should be, he rather attacks Kwabena Agyapong; it is unfair. What has Kwabena Agyapong got to do with the happenings in NPP? If there are issues he does not understand, he should call Kwabena Agyapong for clarification. If he can’t say the truth in the happenings in NPP, he should leave us and our party matters alone".

He therefore slated that every decision the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong has made was on behalf of party executives and not on his personal capacity as the General Secretary.
