Police Arrest Military Imposter

The police in Kumasi have arrested a 36-year-old man, Fiifi Medice, for posing as a military officer at a popular night club in Kumasi.

He was arrested on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Vienna City Night Club at around 1:15 a.m., fully dressed in military uniform with the rank of a major.

Briefing the press, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Osei Ampofo Duku, said the suspect was arrested following a report to the police and the military.

He was also found in possession of a suspected fake GH¢20 note when he was searched.

Explanation

ACP Duku said when Medice was arrested; he told the police that the uniform belonged to his uncle who had retired from active service.

According to the police, the suspect claimed to be a student in Belarus and was in Ghana on holidays saying, he was fascinated by the uniform.

Investigation

Mr Duku said the police were investigating the claims of the suspect to ascertain if really the uniform belonged to his uncle and also to find out if he had used the uniform to commit any crime.

He thus appealed to anyone who might have been duped by the suspect to contact the police to assist them in their investigations.

He said the suspect would be charged for possessing a military uniform without authority and also dealing in fake currency.
