Teach Kids The Ways Of God - Judge

An Appeals Court judge, Justice Mrs Irene Charity Larbi has urged parents to imbibe the word of God through reading the bible in their children in order to help their future transformation.

“We pamper our children with all the material things in life, instead of the word of God.

“It is about time parents took a critical look at the things that they prioritise for their wards,” she emphasised.

She was speaking on behalf of the Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina T. Wood, during the opening ceremony of the African Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLI) 2015 in Accra.

Justice Mrs Larbi added that the youth of today must also make integrity their hallmark, and for her, it is only integrity that can eradicate corruption and make provision for the transformational leaders we need in our country.

A solidarity message from the Ghana Christian Council advised that, as individuals, our access to the word of God, through the bible, should shape us for leadership roles if the need be.

The guest speaker for the forum, Mr Patrick Kuwuna, who is also the founder of Crossover Transformation Group in South Africa, pleaded with Ghanaians to forgive the people of South Africa for the recent xenophobic attack on Ghanaians living in South Africa.

He said Africa is in the wilderness and Ghana must, therefore, arise and lead Africa again.

Launching the ABLI programme on behalf of the Vice-President of Ghana, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, the second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Joe Ghartey, in his brief remarks, said that the very basis of our lives should be the bible because the principles of living, which includes the principles of leadership, is contained in the bible.

As Christians, he said, a conference such as ABLI is very necessary because it continues to remind us of the very basis of our existence and how God wants us to live.

The ABLI forum in Ghana was borne out of ABLI forum organised yearly by the United Bible Societies within the African continent. ABLI is a bible advocacy programme with a focus on leadership in Africa. It began in 2009 and Ghana had the opportunity of hosting the 2014 edition.

Based on the success of the 2014 ABLI forum, the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) hosted a local version of ABLI. ABLI 2015 is being held as part of the 5Oth anniversary celebration of BSG.

ABLI-Ghana seeks to promote leadership transformation using the bible as a tool for change.
