AUDIO: Akufo-Addo Speaks On Late NPP U/E Chairman's Death

The flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has asked members of the party to remain calm following the death of the Upper East Regional Chairman, Mahama Adam.

“I will plead with NPP members to remain calm; we don’t want any violence and unpleasant comments…we should allow the police to do their work,” he said.

Mahama Adam died on Thursday after he was attacked with acid by two people in his car whilst he was about entering his house midnight on Wednesday.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who is currently on a 16-day tour of some European countries, said he will cut short his trip and return home to mourn with the late Chairman’s family.

“I send my condolence to the wife and the entire family. God should grant them the strength they need…he was a hardworking man and so we have lost a great person…I am in Amsterdam, but I will return home tomorrow to mourn with the family members and to help in any arrangement necessary,” he said.
