NPP Supporters In A Brawl In Upper East Region

A fierce confrontation between supporters of Mr Adams Mahama, the deceased Upper East Regional Chairman of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr Paul Afoko, National Chairman of the party was curtailed by the police in Bolgatanga.

It took the intervention of the police who kept firing warning shots to calm the free for all fight.

Supporters believed to be sympathisers of the late chairman pounced on a passenger in a car at the Bolgatanga Hospital morgue, leading to a counter attack.

The police personnel were at the hospital to ensure that the body of the late regional chairman was carried to the morgue without incident.

The police called for reinforcement to calm the situation.
