Hearts Defender Philip Buampong Disparages Unprofessional Ghana Premier League

Accra Hearts of Oak defender Philip Buampong has taken a swipe at the level of organization of the Premier League describing it as “unprofessional”.

Buampong is one of the few Ghanaians that have returned to the domestic scene after plying their trades abroad.

The 25-year-old looks unsatisfied with the way things are done in the League hence tagging the domestic top-flight as “unprofessional”.

The former Ghana Youth defender has been extremely involved in the Phobains resurgent campaign in Africa having helped the club to the final round of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The tough-tackling defender who made a return to the Rainbow Club prior to the start of the season after a loan spell with Saudi side Al-Shoalah is disgruntled by the organization of the League.

“The League for me is unprofessional.  There is no way you can describe the Ghana League as a Professional League because things are not done correctly,” he told Happy Fm.

“The organization is poor. The pitches we play on are not good, and we the players always get injured because of the nature of the pitches”

“As a player you cannot even change your jersey with an opponent as a sign of sportsmanship after games, all because there is only one jersey for you throughout the whole season.”

“I remember Harrison Afful gave his jersey to one of our players after we played against them and that really looks really professional.”

“Some of us had a very good game against Esperance in Tunisia because we were playing on a good pitch and we went in for any tackle without fearing to get injured. That is how it should be.”

The former Berekum Arsenal defender is currently considered as one of the hard-working center-backs in the League.
