NPP Behind Armed Robbery - JJ

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has once again descended heavily on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of being behind the recent armed robbery cases experienced in the country. He said the recent armed robbery incidents are not just mere robbery cases, but those which are political motivated by NPP bigwigs to target high profile Ghanaians in the society. Jerry Rawlings reiterated these accusations when he interacted with chiefs from the Volta and Greater Accra in his official residence at Ridge. He described robbery incidents as "ills against the innocent through so-called armed robbery tactics" and noted that it was time chiefs within the two regions think of aggressively working with the security agencies to fish out such unscrupulous persons who have the ill-intention to undermine the ruling NDC government. The founder of the NDC commended the security agencies for their efforts in dealing with the recent upsurge of armed robbery, calling on the government to resource the law enforcement agencies to enable them operate efficiently. However, in a telephone interview with Citi Fm, the Member of Parliament for Okai-koi South Constituency Hon. Nana Akomea, in a sharp response rebuffed the statements made by the NDC founder to the effect that the NPP is directly associated with these lunatic acts. The MP noted that murder cases reported over the years where the ex-President claimed to have had insight and added that it was necessary that he produces concrete evidence to buttress all his claims. "It is not surprising such an issue has resurfaced even when his party is in power," said Nana Akomea. According to him, there came a time in this country when former President Rawlings echoed that the serial killings of women , the murder of Yaa Na and Issah Mobila were within his ambit since he had evidence to the effect that some NPP members were those behind the killings.
