The team also returned fire and was later reinforced by the night police patrol team.In the process of the fierce fire exchange, two of one of the robbers died instantly while the other was arrested and given severe beatings by residents. The police rescued him but he died on the way to the hospital. The police boss said the hospitalised soldier, during the exchange, was stabbed on the forehead by one of the robbers, leaving him with a serious injury. A police source said irate youth in the area gave the five robbers a hot chase and retrieved the car after lynching the two. One was arrested while two managed to escape. The source said the robbers had trailed the business women from their shop to their house at Latebiokorshie where they attacked them with cutlasses. DCOP Rose Bio Atingah assured the public that her outfit had the capacity to combat robbery in the region. She called also on the public to repose confidence in the police, adding that they were resolute in the fight against crime and now robust in their approach. We are now taking the war to them (robbers), she noted.
