Congo Coach Accuses Ghana Of Age Cheating In Olympics Qualifier

The Red Devils coach says the Black Meteors fielded over-age players in the 2016 Olympic Games qualifier played in Accra on Saturday. Congo coach Claude le Roy has claimed that Ghana used 'over-age players' in the first leg of the 2016 Olympic Games qualifier played in Accra on Saturday, which the central Africans lost 1-0. The former Ghana coach said at a press conference that he was able to recognise some of the players who were already active while he was working in the country, stressing that they did not meet the competitions requirement of being born on or after January 1 1993. The 1-0 score line is an advantage to Ghana not Congo because they have the three points, but in this Congo team, we have six players with real ages, not like some players in the Ghana team, said Le Roy. Some players in this present Black Meteors squad played in the Chan 2009 tournament. I left Ghana in 2008 some of the players I saw in that match were part of the 2009 Chan team, so how are they 23 years or less?'' When asked whether he could prove it, he mentioned that he did not want to delve into details but was convinced some players in the present Ghana U-23 squad used wrong ages. I dont want to go into all that now because I have only one week to prepare my team for the second leg, but you journalists here know that what I am saying is the truth, he said. Le Roy has managed five national teams in Africa, including Cameroon and DR Congo, returning to both countries after his initial spells. He also took charge of Senegal, Ghana and now Congo. He won the 1988 Africa Cup of Nations with the Indomitable Lions and also led them to the 1998 Fifa World Cup.
