Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nathan Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander has advised communities which visit brutalities on the police in line of duty to put a stop to the practice.

This, he said would help create the peaceful environment the police need to carry out their mandate to provide security for the people.

DCOP Boakye gave the advice at Ejisu during the handing over of a GH₵ 500,000.00 ultra-modern Police Divisional Headquarters funded by the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly through the Urban Development Grant.

He noted that some communities are becoming increasingly intolerable and unleashing hostilities on the law enforcers, who have been constitutionally mandated to provide them with security.

He cited a recent traders protest at Ejisu, during which the police were pelted with stones.

DCOP Boakye said such uncalled-for acts of aggression would not be countenanced by the police.

“Such acts of impunity and indiscipline must stop forthwith so as not to tempt us to act in reprisals,” he warned.
DCOP Boakye appealed to elders, opinion leaders and politicians not to shield those who flout the laws of the land.

He however commended the chiefs and people for supporting the police to clamp down on highway robbers at robbery prone communities.

The Police Boss urged them to blow the cover off miscreants living in the communities and provide credible evidence to facilitate their prosecution to protect peace and tranquility.

Mr Kwaku Afrifa Yamoah-Ponko, Municipal Chief Executive, on behalf of the Assembly, donated one land-line phone to the Divisional Command to facilitate the work of the police.
