NPPs June 13 Elections In Danger

There are credible indications that the June 13, 2015 elections for the 2016 parliamentary candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will have to be postponed. There are two aspects of this problem.

One is that credible sources at the NPP national headquarters in Accra indicate that the submission of pictures and documentations to the Electoral Commission (EC) may have been done by persons unauthorized to do so.

The source explained, “it is the General Secretary or his accredited representative who should officially submit such documentation. That was not the case and the proper thing needs to be done.”

The sources said “some of the candidates, according to some media reports, had been disqualified. Other media reports indicate they have been cleared to contest by the national executive, so which is which?”

The other aspect of the problem is that if the current list submitted to the EC by unauthorized persons is withdrawn earlier willingly or by a court order, it will leave the EC with very little time to print the ballot papers and other materials.
