Govt Condemns Adb Strike

Labour and Employment Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has condemned the strike by workers of embattled ADB describing the act as “completely misinformed” and “misplaced”.

Staff of the Osu and Ring Road branches of the bank have locked themselves in the bank refusing to work, leaving customers stranded and frustrated following a claim that they have sighted a letter extending the contract of the current  Managing Director by another three years.

But the minister says government is not aware of such an extension and has challenged UNICOF to produce the contract-extension letter which has formed the basis for the strike action.

He said government is still negotiating with the employees on the demand for the resignation of the MD, but added that the bank’s employees should not “expect a resolution when there is no cooperation on both side”.

Workers of the ADB have been locked in negotiation with government and management of the bank and have been agitating for weeks demanding the removal of the MD, Mr. Stephen Kpordzih, and the dissolution of the Board.
