Akufo-Addo Will Be "Crushed Down" Should He Attempt To Stop Pressure Emanating From 275 Constituencies

Former Chief Scribe of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afiyie said the decision to allow NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong remain in their respective positions have gone beyond the powers of the Flagbearer.

Daily Post May 28, 2015 edition reported that “the cat is finally out of the bag! The refusal of Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong to use the filing fees of NPP parliamentary aspirants to defray a GH¢2,290,361 debt owed Prudential Bank in the name of the Akufo-Addo and his hand men is the reason why Akufo-Addo is bent on kicking them out of office as National Chairman and General Secretary respectively of the NPP”.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Sir John as he is affectionately called, refuted reports that Nana Akufo-Addo wants the duo out as reported by the Daily Post newspaper.

He pointed out that the resolution to ask the duo to step aside emanates from the constituencies; thus “even if Akufo-Addo attempts to stop the constituencies where the power is coming from to rescind their decision, they will push him aside”.

He maintained that those in the party who want to help the situation should stop blaming it on Akufo-Addo, stressing that “the heat which is emanating from the people can even hurl him away if he attempts to step in”.

He bemoaned the creeping syndrome in the NPP where party activists tend to either wash their linen in public or resort to disclosing party secrets to media outlets that are pro-NDCs.

I advise people to be circumspect when making statements on happenings in our party, such reportage will not help them remedy the situation. If you want to resolve the issue it is not about reporting everything to the NDC-pro newspapers, especially Daily Post,” he cautioned.
