NPP Internal Wrangling: Ex-Prez Kufuor Breaks Silence...

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has broken his silence over recent happenings in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He has expressed worry and sadness over the continuous tension mounting up in the party following the death of Alhaji Adams Mahama, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the party.

The former President who has been abroad over the period because of prior-arranged engagements, on Thursday, reiterated the need for calm and cautioned the party members against acrimonious accusations in the media.

He indicated that the issue must be resolved in accordance with laid down procedures of the party’s constitution and not constantly discuss in the media without regard to the overall effect on its fortunes.

A statement signed by his spokesperson, Mr Frank Agyekum said the former President had been engaging the rank and file of the party on phone on the ongoing internal wrangling of the party.

The Ex-President urged that the painful and untimely passing away of Alhaji Mahama, should be used to unite the party and not tear it apart, adding, NPP needs to unite not only for its own good but for that of the entire nation that is looking up to it as the alternative government.

“The painful and untimely passing away of Alhaji Mahama should be used to unite the party and note tear it apart…the national investigative system that has already taken charge of the process be allowed to work, rather than the party seeming to preempt the outcome,” he said.
