We Used Our Party Headquaters As Collateral For Loan; So What? - John Boadu

John Boadu, National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has rubbished claims that the party mortgaged its headquarters to cover a loan facility that Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta solicited from the Prudential Bank.

According to John Boadu, the party has not committed any criminal activity for seeking loan from the Prudential bank and using the party headquarters as collateral.

Speaking to host Nana Yaw Kesse on PeaceFM's "Kokrokoo" Morning Show, the NPP National Organizer was of a strong view that such practice is normal in the Ghanaian setting.

John Boadu pointed out that people go for loans and use their properties for collateral, to facilitate the quick processing of the loan application.

We used the headquarters as collateral and so what? If we’re requesting a loan, can’t we mortgage the headquarters? What is wrong about it? If you’re going for a loan, can’t you collateralize your house or landed property...if we have gone for money to do party work, what is wrong about it…When did it become a crime…?

He however stressed that the party 'sole-finances' its internal projects.
