The Game Was Tough - Sellas Tetteh

Black Satellites coach Sellas Tetteh has admitted “tough” match against Austria in the opening Group B match in the U-20 World Cup.

A stoppage-time penalty from Yaw Yeboah denied the Austrians the first big upset of New Zealand 2015, snatching Ghana a 1-1 draw from the jaws of defeat.

However, Tetteh was delighted his team managed to earn a point with an unimpressive performance.

“It was a very difficult game for us, but the first match in a tournament is always tough and it takes a while to find your rhythm,” the 2009 World Cup winner said in a post-match interview.

“Congratulations to Austria for a really strong performance; it was clear that this team has plenty of quality.

“Having said that, it didn’t surprise me as every side that qualifies for a World Cup has earned the right to be here.

“Everything is now open in our group after the first two games both ended in draws. Next up is a tricky match against Argentina, which we can hopefully win.”

Ghana will play against Argentina on the 2nd of June in Wellington while Austria face Panama on the same date.
