The Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, has been suspended.
The chairman, Charles Kwaw Adjei, goes on suspension together with other executives, after a crunch meeting organized by some Western Regional executives of the party last Saturday.
This follows claims by the chairman to the effect that some aggrieved constituency executives had planned to pour acid on him.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that the meeting, which was organized in Sekondi, was attended by the Regional Communications Officer, Famous Tumi Acquah; Secretary, one Essien; Organiser, Japhet Baidoo and other regional executives.
Other constituency executives who have also been suspended are the Secretary, King Philip Henry Anikloe; Communications Director, Emmanuel Boamah and his deputy, Daniel Armah.
The rest are Wonderful Bondzie, Youth Organiser; Samuel Ackah, Emmanuel Kwofie also called Kofi Nzema and Cosmos Macathy.
When DAILY GUIDE called the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira NDC chairman for confirmation, he told the paper that he would not comment because the issue was an internal party matter.
Meanwhile, the Regional Communications Officer, Famous Tumi Acquah, confirmed the story on Skyy Power FM’s programme dubbed, “Oman Ghana” on Saturday.
Mr Tumi explained that the affected constituency executives were suspended for going public with internal party issues.
He added that the current happenings in the constituency had been referred to the regional disciplinary committee for further investigations and necessary sanctions.
He, indicated that the constituency vice chairman would be acting as the chairman and that all the party’s properties in the area had been handed over to him.
The Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira NDC has been plunged into serious crisis following claims by the chairman that some executives in the area were planning to pour acid on him.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that the chairman reported the matter to the Axim police and four executives were subsequently arrested.
Those arrested were Emmanuel Kwesi Kyie, Organiser; Samuel Ackah; Kwesi Agboshie and Kofi Nzema.
A source at the police station confirmed the case to DAILY GUIDE and added that the Axim magistrate court would sit on it on June 5, 2015.
The arrested executives, who had been granted police enquiry bail, denied the allegation that they had planned to attack the chairman with acid.
King Philip told DAILY GUIDE that the aggrieved executives never said anywhere that they were planning to pour acid on the regional chairman.
He indicated that it was after they had been arrested that the police revealed to them that the chairman had reported that they wanted to attack him with acid.
Police Denial
Meanwhile, the Axim District Police Commander, Supt. Edward Annung Konyel, has denied any report of acid-related case at the police station.
He could however, not tell why the four were arrested when DAILY GUIDE enquired from him.
Suspension
King Philip mentioned the indefinite suspension of the constituency Organizer, Kwesi Kyie, by the chairman and some other executives of the party.
He claimed that last Friday the aggrieved executives had a meeting on the suspension of their colleague and how to organise a massive demonstration in the area.
‘In fact, we did not like the way the two intruded into our meeting so we decided to sack them, but the chairman was insisting that they would not leave so we decided to remove and deflate the tyres of their vehicles,’ he added.
He continued, ‘When the MCE and the chairman realised that the situation was getting worse, they quickly rushed to the police station to make the false report, after which four of us were arrested.’
