My Life Is In Danger � Strike Leader

The chairman of the Committed Drivers Union, Francis Appiah has says there have been incessant threats on his life by unidentified people.

Francis speaking on Adom News Monday said that persons who call his personal line with private lines threaten him for being the brain behind the drivers’ strike action which left many passengers stranded.

“So in this country, no one can express himself without someone thinking he is being pushed by a politician…?” he queried.

Thousands of persons were left stranded after commercial drivers decided to embark on a sit down strike action.

The Greater Accra Regional Police command said they have arrested 39 drivers for engaging in various unlawful acts during the drivers’ strike action.

These drivers, Police PRO, Afia Tengey added, would be processed for court tomorrow.

Despite acknowledging that the strike was successful, Francis Appaih said the drivers would be forced to continue with the strike action if the DVLA fails to heed their calls for certain laws affecting the well being of commercial drivers to be revoked.

“My life is in danger now…Ghana does not belong to any political party…,” he fumed on air.

He however stated that he is yet to report the threats on his life to the police.
