Two Persons Assist Police Over Man's Death

Two persons from Beyin in the Western Region, are helping the Half Assini Police in the bizarre death of Mr Timothy Kwesi, a family member, the Jomoro District Police Commander has said.

Superintendent John Furgeson Dzineku, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini, said the names of the suspects are being withheld for security reasons.

He said on May 12 one Mr John Kwesi, uncle to the deceased, reported the alleged death of the nephew to the Beyin Police.

The Police Commander said Mr Kwesi told the Police that the deceased was left alone in the house by other relatives, who went to their various workplaces in the morning only to return in the afternoon to find him dead.

The Jomoro District Police Commander said the Police visited the scene and found the deceased lying in a supine position in a pool of blood with a pestle and a short kitchen knife beside him, all soaked in blood.

Superintendent Dzineku said the Police “suspected foul play in the death, and have accordingly arrested two relatives who names are being withheld for security reasons, to assist in investigations”.

According to the District Police Commander, the knife found at the scene was too small for the deceased to have used to cut his throat.

He said his body has been deposited at the Half Assini government hospital morgue for autopsy, while police investigations continued.
