Zoomlion Clearing Mountains Of Refuse

Zoomlion, Ghana has deployed trucks and payloaders to clear the mountains of refuse which gathered in various communities after the heavy rains five days ago.

Equipment being used for the exercise which started on Friday, are six compact trucks, three double axle tripper trucks, a trailer, three single axle tipper trucks and a payloader.

Briefing the Ghanaian Times, Yahaya Yakubu, Zonal Supervisor of Zoomlion, Ghana, said since Friday, about 500 volunteers from Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) with about 50 supervisors, had been going round the city to collect the refuse.

He said the exercise was specifically, concentrated at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle enclave where the floods affected many people.

Mr. Yakubu said the exercise would be sustained until all the debris were removed from areas affected by the floods.

Mr. Robert Coleman, Communication Manager of Zoomlion advised the public to complement the efforts of the sanitation contractors by changing their attitude towards environmental sanitation.

He said it was high time the various Assemblies and the sub-metros enforced the bye-laws to ensure that floods, were contained, when they occurred.
