Woman, 67, Commits Suicide

An unemployed woman, aged 67, Janet Nyabah, has committed suicide through hanging with a rope on a palm tree in front of her house at KDS, a suburb of Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

     Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mahmudu Yusif, the Dormaa Central Municipal Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday at Dormaa-Ahenkro that the incident happened on April 27, when nobody was present in and around the house.

     DSP Yusif said at about 1330 hours that day, Mr. Joseph Nyabah,  the 75 year-old pensioner husband of the deceased, reported to the Police that he returned home from the town and found the wife hanging on a palm tree.

     He said Police investigations revealed that the deceased had been sick for about 20 years but efforts to find the cure for her ailment by family members in various medical facilities were not successful.

     DSP Yusif said the Police later rushed to the scene and took the take corpse to the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
