STATEMENT: Delegates Must Exhibit A Sense Of Maturity And Elect Winnable Candidates Akufo Addo

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be going to the polls on Saturday, 13th June, 2015 to elect parliamentary aspirants for the 2016 general elections.

In view of this, the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has appealed to all delegates, aspirants and party executives to exhibit a sense of maturity and unity of purpose.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, he noted that “these primaries are the last of the necessary internal party contests in our preparations towards 2016. Thus far, the entire nation can bear testimony to the efficient, peaceful and successful manner in which we have conducted ourselves in our internal contests. I, therefore, appeal to all delegates, aspirants and party executives to exhibit a sense of maturity and unity of purpose in the run-up to Saturday. It is my expectation that the elections will be transparent, and held in accordance with the Constitution and regulations of our party and the laws governing the conduct of pubic elections in our country”.

Nana Addo also urged delegates to elect “winnable” candidates who can win their seats and help deliver an NPP majority in the next Parliament.

These candidates should also be the ones who can work hard to ensure an NPP victory in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections. Let us have healthy primaries and show the country that we are deserving of their mandate,” he added.
